Data Export (CSV, JSON, GA Format)

Your data belongs to you — take it anywhere, in the format you need.

Analytics you can’t take with you isn’t really yours. Data Export puts you in full control: download your website analytics whenever you like, in the format that fits the job — CSV, JSON, or a Google Analytics-compatible format. Whether you want to build a custom spreadsheet, feed a reporting tool, or simply keep your own archive, your numbers are always a few clicks away. Export is available on every plan.

Each format has its natural home. CSV (comma-separated values) opens directly in Excel or Google Sheets — the right choice for building your own charts, combining traffic data with sales figures, or handing numbers to an accountant. JSON is the structured format developers and business-intelligence tools prefer, ideal when a technical person is wiring your analytics into something bigger. The Google Analytics-compatible format matches the field layout GA users know, so spreadsheets, templates, and workflows built around GA exports keep working — especially handy if you switched to Crafty Meerkat and want your history to line up with old GA files.

Just as important as the formats is what they mean: no lock-in. You are never trapped here. You can export by date range, by metric type, or download your full dataset, and if you ever decide to leave, you take everything with you. We would rather earn your renewal every month than hold your data hostage — and honestly, a tool that has to lock the exit probably isn’t worth staying in.

How it works

The Export page in your dashboard lets you choose what to download and how. Pick a date range (a specific month, quarter, or your entire history), pick the metric type you need (or the full dataset), pick a format, and download. The file is generated from the same data your dashboard displays, so the numbers in your export always match the numbers on screen.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Open the Export page

In your dashboard, select your site and click Export in the sidebar.

  2. 2

Choose your date range and data

Select the period to export — last month, the full year, or everything — and whether you want a specific metric type or the complete dataset.

  3. 3

    Pick a format

Choose CSV for spreadsheets, JSON for developers and technical tools, or the Google Analytics-compatible format for GA-shaped workflows and side-by-side history.

  4. 4

    Download and use

Click export and the file downloads to your computer. Open a CSV straight in Excel or Google Sheets; hand a JSON file to whoever is building on your data.

Tips from the den

  • Not sure which format to pick? Choose CSV — it opens in any spreadsheet program and is the format every other tool can read.
  • Exporting month by month with a consistent naming pattern (like “2026-06-analytics.csv”) makes a tidy archive that is easy to compare year over year.
  • Moving from Google Analytics? Export your old GA data before its retention window ends, then use Crafty Meerkat’s GA-compatible format to keep both histories in matching columns.

Common questions

Is data export available on every plan?

Yes. Export in CSV, JSON, and Google Analytics-compatible formats is available on all plans, including during the 30-day free trial. Owning your data is not a premium feature.

Can I export only a specific date range or metric?

Yes. You can export by date range, by metric type, or download your full dataset — whatever the task needs, from a one-month client report to a complete archive.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Export everything before you go and it is yours forever — full dataset, any format. There is no lock-in: taking your data with you is a supported, one-click path, not a support ticket.

Why offer a Google Analytics-compatible format?

Many owners have spreadsheets, report templates, or agency workflows built around GA’s export layout. The GA-compatible format slots into those unchanged, and lets historical GA files sit side by side with your Crafty Meerkat data in matching columns.
