Every Crafty Meerkat account starts with a 30-day trial of the full product, and when the trial ends nothing dramatic happens: you land on the Free plan. Your data stays, your dashboard stays, and tracking keeps running for one website at up to 10,000 events a month.
The Free plan includes the core of the product: the real-time dashboard and live map, top pages and referrers, device and location breakdowns, AI-assistant traffic attribution, and data export. What it doesn’t include is the AI advisor (weekly reports, Stats Chat), uptime monitoring, or room for more websites — those are what paid plans are for.
There is one visible difference on a free site: a small “Analytics by Crafty Meerkat” badge in the corner of your pages. We believe in saying this plainly: the badge is how the free plan pays for itself. It links to us, people who click it find us, and that funds tracking for everyone who pays nothing. No ads, no selling your data — just a small, honest credit line.
How it works
The badge is added by the same snippet you already installed — there is nothing extra to set up. On free (and trial) accounts it appears as a small pill in the bottom-right corner of your site. On any paid plan it disappears automatically, usually within an hour.
When you upgrade, everything you had during your trial comes back exactly as it was: your AI advisor picks up where it left off, uptime checks resume, and the badge goes away.
Tips from the den
- ◆If your site outgrows 10,000 events a month, events past the cap are simply not recorded — nothing breaks, and there are never overage charges.
- ◆The referral program works on the Free plan too: share your link, and the months you earn are banked and applied when you subscribe.
Common questions
Can I remove the badge on the Free plan?
The badge stays on free sites — it is the trade that keeps the plan free, and we would rather be upfront about that than hide a setting. Any paid plan (from $12/month) removes it automatically.
What happens to my extra sites when my trial ends?
Nothing is deleted. The Free plan covers one website going forward, and your other sites’ historical data stays safe in your dashboard — upgrade any time to resume tracking on all of them.
Does the badge slow my site down?
No. It is a single small element added after your page has already loaded, by the same under-2KB script that does your analytics.
