Create your account and add your website
Sign up at den.craftymeerkat.com/register — it takes under a minute and no credit card is needed. Then add your website by entering its address. Crafty Meerkat creates a unique site ID for it right away.

Copy your personal snippet
Your dashboard shows a one-line snippet with your unique site ID already filled in. Click to copy it — there is nothing to edit.

Paste it into your site’s head section
Add the snippet just before the closing </head> tag on every page you want to track. If you use WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace, Wix, Webflow, or another builder, the platform guides show exactly where the paste box lives — most builders have a “custom code” or “code injection” setting made for this.

Watch your first visit appear
Open your website in a new tab, then look at Live Traffic View in your dashboard. Your own visit should appear within a few seconds — page, location, device, and all. That is your confirmation everything works.

Tips from the den

◆Install the snippet on every page, not just the homepage — otherwise visits to your other pages are invisible, and metrics like bounce rate will look worse than they really are.
◆Working on your site a lot? Use “Exclude my current IP” in Settings so your own visits don’t inflate your numbers.
◆Give it a full week before drawing conclusions. A day of data shows activity; a week shows patterns.

Common questions

Do I need a developer to set this up?

Usually not. If your site runs on WordPress, Shopify, Squarespace, Wix, or Webflow, installation is a copy-and-paste into a settings box — no code editing. The platform guides walk through each one step by step. If someone else built your site, sending them the snippet with “please add this to the head of every page” is all they need.

Will the snippet slow down my website?

No. The script is under 2KB (smaller than most single images), loads asynchronously (in the background, without blocking your page), and has no dependencies. Visitors will not notice any difference.

How soon will I see data?
