Stats Chat

Ask questions in plain English. Get answers from your own data — no reports, no filters, no jargon.

Available on Growth and Agency plans — and in every 30-day free trial

The fastest way to get an answer from your analytics is to ask for it. Stats Chat lets you type a question like “What was my top traffic source last week?” or “Which pages did people from my newsletter visit?” and get an instant answer built from your actual data — no navigating reports, no stacking filters, no exporting to a spreadsheet.

This matters most on the days you do not have time for analytics. An online store owner between shipments can type “Did the weekend sale bring more visitors than last weekend?” and have the answer in seconds. Questions that would take fifteen minutes of clicking take one sentence instead.

Stats Chat is the conversational side of Crafty Meerkat’s built-in AI Advisor, and it answers with full context: it has access to your analytics, your site profile, your competitor analyses, and your previous AI insight reports. Ask “How do I compare to my competitors?” and it draws on real competitor data, not a vague generality. Ask “Why did traffic spike on Tuesday?” and it checks your chart annotations before answering.

How it works

Stats Chat lives in your site’s dashboard. When you ask a question, the advisor looks at your real analytics data for the relevant date range — page views, visitors, referrers, campaigns, goals, devices, locations — plus your site profile, competitor analyses, and past AI reports, then composes a plain-English answer.

Because it works from the same data your dashboard shows, the numbers in its answers match the numbers in your charts. It is a faster way into the same truth, not a separate system.

Step by step

  1. 1

Open Stats Chat from your site’s dashboard

Select your site, then choose Stats Chat in the sidebar. You will see a simple message box — no setup required.

  2. 2

Ask your question the way you would ask a person

Type naturally: “What were my five most-visited pages this month?” or “How many people found me through Google versus Facebook last week?” You do not need to know any analytics terminology.

  3. 3

    Ask a follow-up

Stats Chat handles conversation, so you can drill in: “And how does that compare to the month before?” Each answer builds on the last, just like talking to a colleague.

  4. 4

    Turn an answer into action

When an answer surfaces something worth fixing — say, a popular page with a high bounce rate — ask “What should I do about it?” or take the finding to the Prompt Builder to package it for your developer.

Tips from the den

  • Start with the question you actually care about (“Is my advertising working?”) rather than a metric name. The advisor translates business questions into the right data automatically.
  • Use named days and ranges — “last Tuesday,” “the first week of June” — for precise answers.
  • Ask about your goals by name: “How is the quote-request goal doing this month?” Goals give Stats Chat a definition of success to measure against.
  • If you have run a competitor analysis, comparison questions get much richer — try “What does my top competitor do that I don’t?”

Common questions

What kinds of questions can Stats Chat answer?

Anything grounded in your data: traffic questions (“top referrers last week”), page questions (“which blog post kept people longest”), campaign questions (“did the spring-sale campaign outperform email”), goal and conversion questions, and comparison questions against your tracked competitors.

Does Stats Chat see the same numbers as my dashboard?

Yes. Stats Chat reads from your live analytics data — the same source your charts use — plus your site profile, competitor analyses, and previous AI insight reports, so answers stay consistent with what you see on screen.

Do I need to learn special commands or query language?

No. Plain English is the whole point. Type questions the way you would ask a person, follow up naturally, and the advisor handles the translation into data.
